64 and 32 bit SharePoint databases
We have a 2007 small farm that uses a 64bit SQL server cluster backend. Would moving these databases running in the current 64 cluster environment to a 32bit SQL clustered environment backend work?
We're planning on using cliconfg utility to point the SharePoint farm to the other SQL clustered environment (the 32bit system).

Hmm..
Sounds interesting question. Though I never tried this out but definitely feel that such thing won't work. The several reasons I foresee are:
This is just migration of DB. What about WFE's? The migration is from 64 bit environment to 32 bit (usually people try exactly opposite of this :) )
If feel you will have to overcome something similar to
WOW for making it work smoothly Not very sure wether Microsoft has any documentation for this.
Dont forget to share your experience here. since it could be good help for others.

This is just a migration of DB's from one environment to another...period.
There isn't multiple WFE's. This is a small farm configuration. That is.... one SharePoint Server and a SQL server 2005 cluster backend.
Circumstances are such or dictate that we go from 64 to 32 bit environments with respect to DB's.

What has this to do with Search ? Nothing that I can see so I'm moving it from the Search forum.
Next time try at least to post a question to a suitable forum.

Hi Turfnsurf,
I don't see why it won't work...you following this
Technet article, right? I migrated in the past from 32 to 64 bit environement and it works with cliconfg forwarding.
Though your situation is kind of starnge going backward - but I don't think SharePoint cares about that.
Hope this helps!
NB: Make sure you follow "Move All Databaes to a different database server" section from that article.
