Hi Folks,

I have SC2012 App Controller SP1 installed and I am trying to add an Azure subscription. Since this is on a corp server behind a proxy, I have added the proxy details (which I have confirmed work for IE no problem) from the Settings -> Connections -> Proxy Connection, but I keep receiving the error:

Category: Critical
Message: System.Net.WebException
Description: The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.

The proxy configuration is:

http://172.17.10.182:8080 

This proxy server requires creditionals - checked

Username: domain\username
password: <domainpassword>

As stated before, this works with the IE fine and I can browse all sites. I highly doubt it, but has it anything to do with the .pfx file that I need to upload as I wasn't sure if I had to add my Azure .cer file converted to a .pfx or use the self generated machine certificate from App controller exported to a .pfx ? (I used the later if it makes a difference).

In IE on the App Controller server, verify you can reach https://management.core.windows.net (this is the Service Management API for Windows Azure and is how App Controller communicates with Windows Azure).

Within App Controller, on the Overview page do you see Blog and Forum articles showing at the bottom of the page? This uses an HTTP RSS feed and will confirm if App Controller is getting to the Internet for http.

Do you know if the proxy is configured to authenticate both HTTP and HTTPS traffic? Does it use a different URL for HTTPS traffic than HTTP traffic? 

I agree that the issue should not related to the certificates - I do have some advice for the certificates:

When adding a subscription to App Controller we recommend that you create a certificate that is only used for communicating between App Controller and Windows Azure. We do not recommend using the self signed certificate that is created during the install of App Controller.

For the certificate, there are a few ways to create it including the makecert command line tool, and within IIS Manager. When using makecert you will have the .cer in a file after running the command line and can upload that into Windows Azure. You will then need to go into certmgr.msc on the computer where you created the certificate and export the .pfx version to a file so that you can import it into App Controller.

If you use IIS manager then you'll need to export the key twice - once as a .cer (no private key) and once as a .pfx (with the private key).

I have uploaded the certificate in my azure portal  by following the link

I have configured the proxy settings in App Controller in Settings>Connections>Proxy

Also I have configured the proxy in IE and I am able to browse the internet and provided link https://management.core.windows.net

But I am facing the same error while connecting the Windows Azure from App Controller RTM SP1.

Anyone got this issue fixed????????????

I'm facing the same error now. Please help me.

We've identified an issue where App Controller is not correctly using the proxy information that is provided.

We will be including a fix for this issue as part of one of the regular update rollups for System Center.

We are not currently aware of a workaround for this issue.
