Adjust performance monitor display settings
Hi there, I am trying to create a dashboard to view during a stress test. I added some performance views and all works fine. Now i found out that the views only show data every 5 minutes. If i'm correct the sampling time inside the health monitor is set to 120 seconds ie 2 minutes. How can i adjust my views to show data every 2 minutes (or whatever different from default 5). thanks in advance. PaulH

Hi Paul, I think it does show you every datapoint on the line, so whenever it happens.Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)

Thanks for the reply Bob. OK, could be, but it only changes once every 5 minutes exactly. That would mean i will have to adjust something somewhere else: where could that be? The way i see it is that you have only 2 parameters in the performance of the health service handle count threshold: monitoring interval default at 120 and number of samples default at 5. This does not correspond with what i get in the graphs.

Hi Paul! The health service handle count monitor is not responsible for collecting the performance data. You should look (in the authoring pane) for a rule, collecting this metric. Most likely, this rule is running once every 300 secs (I don't have a console right now so I can't verify). /RogerThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Thanks Roger, It takes a bit of (actually a lot) of searching but indeed i found a 300 sec frequency in the rules. I guess you just have to play around a while with the filters to get to know this and find your specific rule. In the monitors i saw a greyed out bit after a while and then the monitors changed in frequency. Now keep one eye on the DB in case it grows too much and let Opsmgr watch the stress test. Great!
