HiI have a number of PCs that are protected with Windows SteadyState in a Web Cafe environment for one of our offices.We have them locked down to stop any hostory being saved etc.It has come to light that these computers will not allow the users to display any web pages that require Adobe Flash.I have tested them whilst logged in with a local admin account and this works ok, however when logged in with the restricted account Flash will not run, it appears that the Add-on in IE8 is disabled.Is anyone able to tell me how to enable the add-on for the locked down account?Any help would be appreciated.Many thanksRichard

Richard, I suggest you install flash on the locked down account. You have to give the account admin rights, install flash, then take admin rights away. It is the only way that I know of that works. Its a pain, but it will get flash working - if you are using additional browsers (firefox, chrome etc) Install Flash using those browsers as well. Have no idea why you aren't able to install flash? Are you installing it from an Admin level account? You may want to check IE's Addons to see if anything from Adobe is disabled, and try re enabling them. Also, reset all of your IE security restrictions to their default level and see if it works. If you are using IE's filter, defaulting IE's security level may wipe out any settings.? Not sure. What happens when you go to adobe.com and install flash? what sites are you visiting to try and see if a flash movie plays? Make sure you have all of SteadyState's restrictions turned off, especially under the IE tab, I know that Adobe's dowload manager is a pain to get working and I usually have to disable all of SteadyState's restrictions before installing Flash (God, how I wish HTML5 was more deployed on websites) Philip Complexity is the enemy of Security -- Steve Gibson
