Alternate Access Mappings SharePoint 2013 not working

Hi

I have got two web applications with host headers in the farm.

WebApplication1: http://webapp1.company.com

WebApplication2: http://mysite.company.com

I have added AAM's for WebApp1 http://webapp1 in intranet zone. but i can't access using the intranet url.

The DNS entries are correctly configured.

Any ideas with this issue, please help

Hi

I got that working by adding bindings in IIS, but i thought adding AAM would manage that and what is the point of AAM if we have to edit the bindings

Adding an AAM does not automatically add the IIS bindings.

Hi,

As Trevor Seward mentioned you need to manually configure your IIS bindings or Extend your web application and let SharePoint do it for you!

could you give the steps to extending the web application so that share point will do that for you?
