App-V Update package version
Hi, If I update an App-V package what will be checked by the clients to determine an update is available before streaming? I found some contrary info. Will it check the Source Version? (version on properties of package) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161773.aspx "To update all associated distribution points with the new version of the virtual application package, select Update all distribution points with a new package source version. Target computers will run previous versions of the virtual application package until the updated version has been advertised and made available on an accessible distribution point." OR will it check the Data Source? (files on of the Data Source) When a virtual application package is updated, Configuration Manager evaluates the data source for the package and makes the necessary file updates to the advertised application. http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/7/8/f784a197-73be-48ff-83da-4102c05a6d44/App-V_and_ConfigMgr_Whitepaper_Final.docx Tnx! http://nicosienaert.blogspot.com/

The clients are never aware of the datasource itself; they only "know" what's on DPs. So the first statement is true for clients. The second statement is true from a siteserver point of view (when distmgr updates the package).

So if we update the package via the wizard and we do not fill another version in the wizard (n+1) the clients will not notice the update?http://nicosienaert.blogspot.com/

The clients will only be aware of a change if the package version (ConfigMgr package) changes. That's extremely easy to test by the way.
