I'm a little bit confused about how to apply drivers packages in my task sequence. I need to apply a mass storage drive for my XP image. I have 1 package with all my drivers including the mass storage drive. My question is, when i try to auto apply drivers, the task sequence will add all drivers that are in the package or only my mass storage drive. Another question is, which is the best way to add drivers to package ? Can I only have one package for model or is a good practice to created a package for each type of drive ? Obs: When applying the driver(mass storage driver) to the task sequence i have to set de task after or before the task "Apply Operating System" ? Thanks a lot,Eduardo Leal

Hi, the tasksequence will only apply the drivers necessary for you machine... I make a package for each hardware model I want to install. So I have a driverpackage for the 6930p, 2540p, dc7800, .... I import the necessary drivers in sccm, put them in the right "category" and put them in the right package. So once a model gets obsolete, I can remove the driverpackage and the drivers (unless the driver is also in another category) Whihtin the TS I work with driver packages, not with auto apply drivers... I supose you'll have to add the mass storage driver before the apply OS, otherwise you're drive might not get recogniosed ? (I'm not sure) Regards,

May I add That you can only add storage driver to XP from a "Apply driver package" step, and you need to point to the exact driver needed within the storage driver ... Because of this XP Storage drivers must be imported into SCCM. All other drivers (except from the ones needer in Winpe) does not need to be imported.. Just create new driver package and point to the folder containing your model specific drives, and then make a step like Niall describe to make sure only that specific model uses those drivers.
