BIDS Error loading 'Package.dtsx' in 2008
So everything was working grand. I had both SQL2005 and 2008 installed and were working together just fine. Then I installed 2008R2. And everything was still fine minus the fact that I couldn't run anything with the dtexecui. I have 2 computers that mirror each other in what's installed on them. SQL2005/2008/R2 were installed on both of them. Then when I started having package issues, I uninstalled R2. Computer A works fine. After I uninstalled R2, I reinstalled the components from the sql2008 disk and packages work/open/run with dtexec/ui On Computer B (which is the more important one of course) I get this error when trying to open a package (in bids). Error 4 Error loading 'Package.dtsx' : Could not load type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.IDTSPackageSigning100' from assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRuntimeWrap, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91'.. And then it gives me the little red x in the right corner. I tried re-registering everything based on this post http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-IE/sqlkjsetupandupgrade/thread/5ed7480b-2ca5-48de-bd3b-4b3752237c31 and that didn't work. Then I uninstalled SQL2008, reinstalled, applied SP1, it still didn't work. Then I re-registered things again and it still didn't work. (I've restarted who knows how many times along the road). Help?

do you have another SSIS version on this computer? if yes, could you try to re-install and install only ONE SSIS on the machine and try again? (I don't know if you tried this yet)http://www.rad.pasfu.com

I do have SSIS 2005 installed on it as well. Since my last post, I uninstalled the client components of sql 2008. Uninstalled VS2008. Then reinstaled VS2008. Applied SP1. And then reinstalled the 2008 client components. Then ran the SP1 update for SQL2008. I do need both versions of SSIS on there since half my packages are 2005 and the other are 2008. I can open my 2005 package just fine. Should I reinstall both SQL2008 & VS completely? Would that even fix the problem do you think? Is there a magic order they would need to be installed as? It's SQL Enterprise and VS Professional that I'm dealing with

So I reinstalled *both* VS and SQL 2008 and patched them and I still the the same bloody error. Any ideas at all? Is the easiest way to fix this to wipe my entire computer? And I can't reregister those two dlls because it says "failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. The specified module could not be found."

So I don't know what I did but I got the dll's to register. Rebooted...But still get the same error. Is there something in the registry I need to flip?

Was this issue ever resolved? We're experiencing the exact same thing and have tried everything to fix it. Please help!

I ran out of ideas and ways to try to fix this and ended up wiping my computer and reinstalling everything from scratch. This seemed to fix everything and definitely was much faster than was trying to figure out what to do next. After that all of my packages opened just fine and things worked as they should. Sorry it's not much useful help

If you have SQL2008 SP2 installed, Uninstall SQL2008 SP2 this should resolve the issue. Worked for me :)
