Bandwidth capacity planning for new SCCM implementation
SCCM gurus... I need your help getting started with network capacity planning for a new SCCM 2007 implementation. We are at the very beginning of planning, and have very few requirements established, other than that we need
software distribution, Windows updates distribution, workstation OS deployment, and possibly server OS deployment. I'm new with the organization, so I don't yet even have a network topology diagram in front of me. However, management is already
asking about capacity planning, for example, network bandwidth requirements. Can you point me to any technical case studies that describe bandwidth utilization for a real or fictitious mid-size company, with a data center, branch
offices, and a given number of clients? Or any rules of thumb, or methodologies for developing requirements? I have looked, and come up with very little on capacity planning. It seems like most of the MS TechNet articles on SCCM
planning/design are pretty general. I've found a few good references/rules of thumb in these forums for storage capacity, server sizing, etc., but not for network capacity. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
