Cancel SCCM 2007 Client Push via wizard
Hello...we are testing and getting to know SCCM 2007...I was trying to deploy the SCCM Client to 1 machine, but, accidentally clicked "Install Client" in the top part of the "All Systems Collection", instead of clicking on "Install Client" for just the one machine...and, I did not notice this until the after I clicked on “Finish” in the Wizard...I shutdown the SCCM server and pulled the network cable...is there a way to cancel this client push in the SCCM Console...also, I am not sure if this push was successfully sent to client machines either, because I shut down the machine pretty quickly...is there a way to check to see if the push actually started? Note, I re-started the SCCM server (we have all SCCM components installed on 1 server right now), but, still have the network cable unplugged until I can verify I can cancel the client push (or that I caught it in time before it started)....thanks for your help!!

Hi, The SCCM Client push will try to install the clients once an hour for 7 days. In the Microsoft Configuration Manager installation folder there are a folder called "Inboxes". int he inboxes folder there are two folders used for Client push. Ccrretry.box where you will find all the "job"-files for client push installations. Deleting all the files in that folder will stop the client push from retrying. Ccr.box here you have to folders one inproc where there client push that are in progress right now is located. Also look in the ccm.log file located in the Configuration Manager installation folder\Logs folder(use Trace32.exe from the SCCM Toolkit), here you can follow all the client push activities being performed by the server. So after removing the files in the folders above you can make sure that no client push activity is still inplace. !!Make sure that the folders are empty and that no activity is being recorded in the CCM.log file before reconnecting the server to the network again. It is possible to cancel the client push installation. Open the SCCM Console Site Database -> Site Management -> Tools -> ConfigMgr Service Manager. Right Click and select "Start ConfigMgr Service Manger" to open "ConfigMgr Service Manager" Here stop the "SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER" component. Go to the following folder <SCCM Install path>\inboxes\ccrretry.box\ on your SCCM server and remove all the .CCR files in this folder. This will remove the client push installation instructions for clients that you had already pushed and are waiting to be processed. To confirm check the <SCCM Install path>\logs\CCM.log . Go back to "ConfigMgr Service Manager" and re-start "SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER" component Madan | http://www.madanmohan.com
