Cannot remove unused SSP
I do not have the ability to right-click and delete an unused SSP database in SharePoint. I have created a new one and moved all of the app pools and web apps to it. It does not even show as a link under Shared Service Administration only a line item. I have checked out error messagea and blogs closely related to this with no success.
Any assistance will be helpful.
Thank you.

I was just at the NJ user group conference this past week and I hesitate to say it but ... I think the MCS presenter said that the original SSP can never be deleted.
However, .what she might have said is that the default SSP can never be deleted. Have you made sure that the original SSP is no longer marked as the default SSP?

Try to delete the ssp using stsadm.exe in the command prompt.

Try running this command to force delete SSP from the stsadm command from
path > c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extension\12\bin
stsadm -o deletessp -title <SSP name> -force
