Cannot upgrade SCX agents of SCOM 2007 R2
Hello to all
I'm aware to the fact that many threads were created on this issue, But I have not found a proper solution so far.
I have installed the CU4 on a fresh SCOM 2007 R2 machine, and following Microsoft instructions :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2449679
Generally what I did was this :
1. Extracted the package
2. The install .hta started automatically
3. clicked the "Update Server"
4. First Setup process started, when it finished I click Finish
5. Second Setup process started, when it finished I click Finish
6. The setup turn of the SCX agent platform (KB2449679-x86-SCX.msp and KB2449679-x64-SCX.msp) failed stating :
"upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing..."
Tried to look for a LOG file in %temp% - did not found any.
Tried to create a log file using the msiexec.exe with the /l option, did not created any logs.
Tried to extract the files from the .msp file, did not work.
Tried to look for errors in Windows event log - did not find any.
Well, The cross platform agents remained in the same version as :
scx-1.0.4-248.solaris.8.sparc.pkg.Z
and not up upgraded to the 1.0.4-265 as described in the CU4 document by Microsoft :
"For example, the following is the file name format for the agent for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (x86):
scx-1.0.4-265-sles.10.x86.rpm"
Somebody faced this problem ?
Any one has a solution ?
Thanks a lot,
Guy

Hello All
After getting support from Microsoft - It is probably because the SCOM 2007 is in EVAL version
installing the normal version will fix this
