Central Administration - Managed Metadata Service Application Bug?

Hello,

i have a sharepoint 2013 farm with 2 managed metadata service (MMS) applications. When opening the Term Store Management Tool in Central Admin (CA) I can only edit one of both MMS applications. It is always the same MMS application and it does not matter which of the 2 MMS applications i select in the CA. The URL parameter of the termstoremanager.aspx is different in both requests. One time the URL looks like http://SERVER:2013/_layouts/15/termstoremanager.aspx?tsid=d59a32f8-ef8c-4f61-ad25-f0bec173b348 the other time the URL looks like http://SERVER:2013/_layouts/15/termstoremanager.aspx?tsid=ad2d54da-3e4a-450e-84ff-2ce43512a931

When i modify the tsid URL parameter to a different guid it has no impact. The Term Store Management Tool always displays the same MMS Application. The dropdown "Available Service Applications" in the Term Store Management Tool only brings up one MMS application.

The weird thing is, that i can Manage the second termstore with the termstore management tool of a content webapplication that is associated with the second MMS. That looks like a bug inside the CA.

I could experience this behaviour in 2 different sharepoint 2013 farms, so this seems something that can be reproduced. Both farms have the march 2013 PU installed.

Can anyone confirm this behaviour?

Hi gojo119,

According to your description, my understanding is that when you created multiple Managed Metadata Services Applications, it didnt work correctly.

The tsid is the Unique Identifier of a Managed Metadata Services Application, you can find it from the address of IE and at the bottom of Term Store Management Tool page. Please check whether they are same at the bottom of Term Store Management Tool page when you click different Managed Metadata Services Applications.

In addition, please install the latest update for your SharePoint 2013, compare the result.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Wendy

Hello Wendy,

the Service applications work correctly. I can Access and use Terms of both Service applications. The Problem is the termstore Management tool in the central admin. I can manage only one of both Service applications. The ID at the bottom of the termstore Management tool is always the same, no matter what MMS application i click on.

Is this a known issue?
