Central Administration - Site Actions is hanging
Hi,
I am new to SharePoint and trying to access a newly deployed SharePoint server Central Administration. The main page (Central Admin Home) comes up well for me, but when I click on Site Actions button, the browse keeps waiting for the response. The browser shows "Waiting for http://servername:port/default.aspx.... for a non-ending loop...How to identify if SharePoint is installed properly and what are the ways I can troubleshoot problems related to SharePoint services.Regards,Kamlesh

Hi Abi,When I tried accessing Central Admin from a client PC, its working fine. But the behaviour from Server's IE still remain same.I only has some warnings in Event Viewer and there are no critical errors.I navigated to \LOGS folder and found that its writing logs for each day (file size on average bigger than 5MB).I even notice one of the log file dated 01-Feb-2009 as 2GB in size!!! Not sure if I can open it in text editor. Is it safe to cleanup these log files? Mine is a Test/Learning environment.Regards,Kamlesh

Hi Kamlesh, If you are able to access home page means sharepoint installed properly, and if you can't able to click on any link like site action so just need to check in your IE setting! goto tools -> internet options. Hope this solves your problem! Regards, N i T i N

Try adding the site to the Trusted sites list in IE.

Hi Kamlesh,
I agree with NiTiN4u, it could be IE Enhanced Security Configuration Settings prevent JavaScript functional on SharePoint sites.
You could add the CA site to Local intranet or Trusted sites zones or uninstall the feature following the article if you are using Windows Server 2003:
Modifying Enhanced Security Configuration Settings (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc775800(WS.10).aspx)
Hope the information can be helpful.
