Cisco SSL VPN / reverse proxy
I am using sharepoint with a Cisco 3825 that I am using as a reverse proxy / SSL VPN with my sharepoint foundations 2010 server. The server works fine internally, and can be viewed fine through the SSL VPN connection. However I cannot edit the sharepoint pages through the VPN. The pull down's to edit do display, but no items can be edited. I have the SSL VPN / reverse proxy configured to access the page using the same DNS address that we use internally. So the users connect to the proxy using https://abc.public.com, and the Cisco is accessing the site internally using http://portal.private.dom. We do not have any problem editing the portal using portal.private.dom internally. I assume that we don't have something configured quite right on the Cisco, has anyone run into something like this? Thanks! Tracy Cleeton MCSE

Hi, From your description, you are using alternate access mapping in reverse proxy configuration, so there is something need your attention. Internal address - The address used by Proxy to contact SharePoint server Note: Ideally the internal address should not be used by users to browse the site, it should be used only by the proxy to contact the server. This will avoid lot of confusion that happens when the AAM needs to be changed when the address for browsing the site changes. External/Public address - Used by users on the internet Company Network/Private address - Used by users on the private / company network If the internal address is different from external address, you need to combine them together. It means that you need to add an Internal URL for the Internet zone(External address). The Proxy and the internal address are the same. We use http://portal.private.dom to access the site from the company network/private address and from the reverse proxy server. This is why it is confusing that we cannot edit pages from the outside.Tracy Cleeton MCSE
