Clients not getting WSUS updates through SCCM 2012

I cannot get Windows Updates installed through SCCM 2012. The client installs on the computers with my preferences that I made, so I know that it is at least communicating with the server.

I installed WSUS 3.0 SP2 to the server, but did not configure anything. Then I installed SCCM 2012 with the SUP Role and configured Windows Updates there. I sorted through the updates that I wanted installed, deployed them to a computer collection and they downloaded just fine (I think, the folder that they downloaded to has various folders and files in it). Once that completed, the client on the desktop still says that there are no items found. WSUS is using the default database and port 8530. Anyone have any suggestions? The few logs that I read seem to be getting the correct address to look to for the updates.

On client have you ran Windows update and scan agent cycle? (If not, that you can run from configuration manager control panel applet).

You can also have a look at the Monitoring node -> Deployments and check the status of your updates deployment.

Yes and yes. Windows Update is how I am pushing the client to end users. Running the configuration manager control panel applet is not really an option. There are 400+ computers that will end up getting this.

This shows that it is deployed and 0% compliant. In Software Library -> All Software Updates, it shows for all the downloaded updates 0 are required, but they are downloaded and deployed.

Did you fix this issue? I have something similar going on with my sccm 2012 sp1 deployment.

Anyone else experiencing this recently?  We just noticed this issues with the new October 2013 security updates.

Hi All,

I am also facing the same issue.

I have installed sccm2012 sp1 with CU4. I have created a test collection with only one machine into it. I downloaded and deployed the MS patches but not able to see these patches on client machine.

Agent on client machine is working fine, as I am able to take the remote control from sccm server

C:\windows\ccmcache folder is not showing MS patches.

On server side, patches has been downloaded to given location

In monitoring -> deployment -> win7 update status is unknown with "Client check passed/active"

In Soft library -> soft update gp -> deployed - yes and downloaded -yes

Windows updates is marked as "never look for update" using GPO on client machines.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

What could be the name of log file to get more information

Not able to see option to run inventory etc from SCCM Console (I have seen these option in SCCM 2007). Do I need to install any other plug-ins

Thanks
