Configuration Manager 2007 & SCUP 2011

I have successfully published some Adobe Flash updates to our LAB SCCM server, however I'm thinking this may not do what we're needing it to do.  I'm assuming when a device reports in with its software inventory it doesn't include Adobe versions so SCCM/WSUS has no idea whether or not a device actually needs the Adobe Flash update.  I would hope that if I deploy an Adobe Flash update that it only installs on systems which need an update, not install it on systems that currently do not have flash.

As of right now, all 26 systems in the lab show up as "Unknown" for the Adobe Flash security update.  One of the 26 systems has Flash 11 installed, and the unknown update is for Flash 12.

I would assume that anything without it installed should just show up in SCCM/WSUS as not required for the Adobe updates, and those devices with older versions should show up as non-compliant/required.

Let me know if this doesn't make sense.

Not quite relevant in any case, as Software Inventory is a totally separate function from Software Updates, but the Software Inventory should include ALL installed software, regardless of vendor.

A client determines whether the Adobe Flash update is needed when the CMAgent launches a Software Update Scan, which is handed off to the WUAgent and is executed directly against the Software Update Point. The results from that scan are then reported by the CMAgent to the Management Point, and the compliance state for the update package is displayed in the CM console.
