Hi You cannot connect from a list direct to AD unless you write custom code or by utilising a third party tool - e.g. ASI Advanced Employee Directory web part See this for more information on ASI: here Or, you could potentially use the User Information List, or say a Custom list but you would again have to use a third party tool such as the User Sync Tool by Bamboo to get that to work so that everthing syncs up.
