Custom Function in FIM2010
Hi! Can anybody help me create custom function in FIM 2010. I created .Net assembly, realized some method (TranslateRUSInEng). Then I created Function Resource in FIM Portal, specified proper namespace, function name, parameters, assemblies. I want to use this function in Synchronization rule, but this function does not appear in function list and FIM does not allowed use in CustomExpression. How can I realize this .NET assembly and register this assembly in FIM. thank you for any advisemcp, mcdba, mcsa, mcse, ccna

Hi Gennady! Unfortunately it's still not possible to create custom functions for FIM. The reason for this is that the FunctionLibrary.dll is still sort of hardcoded as the source for functions. I really hope custom functions will be possible in a near future. //Henrik Henrik Nilsson, ILM/FIM MVP Blog: http://www.idmcrisis.com Company: Cortego (http://www.cortego.se)

If I can't add the function, than why did the New button located in the Function section?

There's still no support for custom functions in FIM but there's a resource for them for some reason I don't know except I guess it's because there was an idea to support custom functions. For about a year ago I added a feature request to Connect about making custom functions available but unfortunately this was closed about a week ago with the "Will not fix" status even though it was the second most wanted feature. //HenrikHenrik Nilsson, ILM/FIM MVP Blog: http://www.idmcrisis.com Company: Cortego (http://www.cortego.se)

Gennady, custom transformation/generation of data for imports/exports needs to be done in code via a Rules Extension. You can write them easily enough in C#/VB.net. There's a lot of good documentation out there for this.
