Hi all,

I have taxonomy fields as well as rich text boxes in my SharePoint 2010 list which needs to be edited in datasheet view so that bulk update is possible. Also I have Workflow goin on that list so Content Aprroval is On , I want to initiate manual workflow on each item when needed.

I could not find destination via Data sheet view of SharePoint.

Is there any workaround to it , I mean if we can have any custom thing created which could solve the problem , or is there any software which could be loaded to get list items in Datasheet mode and could be edited too.

The DataSheet view is actually an Office/Access control. There appears no workaround. It is a design limitation. You can write your own custom code to initiate manual workflow on each item when needed.

Its not mainly about workflow , We need to have a workaround through which we could edit our items in a better way.

As we have to update items in bulk so we need a workaround to open our items in excel may be and edit all items in a go and could initiate workflow too.

If not through Spreadsheet view provided by sharepoint can we have something custom created which could let us edit in excel format and save it back.

I would recommend you to open an Advisory case with Microsoft SharePoint Developer Support. This would help us scope the boundary of custom work/development that would be required to meet your business objectives. After you create a support case, an engineer will then be assigned to scope the customization work required and suggest you with the feasibility options. As far as this discussion thread goes, we are constrained and are being unable to provide you with details of what can be customized and what cannot.

Have you considered using the Telerik Datagrid? It is pretty easy to setup.
