Datasheet view prompting users for credentials
I have full control for a site that displays a datasheet view on a page. When I use the page sometimes I change how wide the columns are by just dragging them over one way or another. I do not specifically change the view by modifying the web part and
assumed that when I did this no one else would be affected. Recently it seems that when I do this the change is seen on other user's computers and when they try to readjust the columns in their view by dragging them, it asks them to authenticate.
It seems to me that I am actually changing the view by dragging the column widths and because I am an admin SharePoint is fine with it, but when a contributor tries the same thing it complains. I do not recall this being the standard behavior for SharePoint
datagrid views.
Can anyone offer any insight? I don't want any adjustments I make while using the site become design changes.

Hello,
I checked and a user who has Full Control on Document Library, be able to resize columns in DataSheet view in Document Library. However, if this is added as a WebPart on the page in SharePoint Site where the same document library DataSheet view is displayed,
you must re-select the view in the WebPart so that the new datasheet column-resized view settings will be displayed. However, at any time I didnt encounter any authentication prompts.
Can you please browse to Document Library as admin user, resize the columns correctly. Then browse to SharePoint Site where you're displaying this webpart in DataSheet view, edit webpart and re-select the DataSheet view and then check if your users are still
facing this issue?
If the user still sees the authentication prompt, can you check using NetMon/Fiddler tool, what request is causing the 401 to appear? Please remember to click 'Mark as Answer' on the post that helps you or click 'Unmark as Answer' if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

I am sorry but your answer was not the answer to my issue.
Neither have I had a chance to install fiddler on a user's computer that is experiencing these promts for authentication to troubleshoot as there are much more pressing issues.
I would like to state that I was not trying to resize the coulmns for everyone else.
Also regardless of anything else that I do or do not do, if a user with less than design permissions on a list and they try to resize a choice column, they get prompted for authentication, which they can completely ignore with no ill effects.
It is weird and confsing for the users.
