Decommisioning MOM 2005
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of good guide for decommissioning MOM 2005. We have the management server, SQL server holding the DBs and reporting services and then of course the agents.
I mean beyond uninstalling the agents and turning off the management server is there anything else we need to be doing? I've had a scan around the internet and all that seems to be discussed is uninstalling the agents.
Kind regards and many thanks in advance for any guidance.

Sorry I should have mentioned that the removal of 2005 will be in preparation for the implementation of 2012. We just want a completely clean removal of the 2005 environment before introducing 2012 - can't find anything on decommissioning 2005 in the 2005
admin guide.
Thanks guys. M Tipler

I would try to do some remote batch uninstall of the mom 2005 agents, maybe use a tool from sysinternals. Then just decom your MOM 2005 Environment. If you are unable to uninstall MOM 2005 agents, just leave them, and remove them as you come
across them. A MOM 2005 agent on a box is not going to interfere with your SCOM agent. Once you get SCOM 2012 on, maybe you can create a MP that discovers all MOM 2005 orphaned agents, and shows you a view, where you could go one by one and manually
remove, or maybe you could use that same MP to find the service, and kick off a uninstall locally on the box.Regards, Blake Email: mengotto<at>hotmail.com Blog: http://discussitnow.wordpress.com/ If my response was helpful, please mark it as so, if it answered your question, then please also mark it accordingly. Hey Blake,
Thanks for your response.
So beyond removing the agents (which I've already done) there's nothing more technical to carry out with the management server other than to basically switch it off and then delete the MOM DB's from the SQL server?
