Delete an Authentication Provider
If I have an alternate authentication provider added as an extended Web Application how do I delete it? I had a web application set to us the default zone and active directory. Then asa test I extended the web app and set the external zone to use ADAM as an authentication provider. Now, I want to get rid of the ADAM authentication zone but there doesn't seem to be a straight forward way to do this.

I don't have a lot of experience with this, but I'm chipping in since no one has done so so far.
I would take the approach of removing the target provider(s) from web.config and then updating the appropriate place in central admin to not use FBA for that web application.

Assuming you want to delete the extended web appGo into Central Administration - Application ManagementClick Remove SharePoint from IIS websiteUnder Web Application, select the web application that has the Extended web appYou should see a drop down box that lists the first web application & the extended web application *The 1st web app will have (Default) if you haven't changed the zone on the first web app *The extended web app will have the Zone you made it when the web app is extendedSelect the radio button to Delete IIS websiteClick OKdo an iisreset /noforce on all WFE servers when doneScott

If you are using SharePoint 2010, it is a little different.
Go to Central Administration --> Application Management and click on "Configure alternate access mappings"
