Deleting discovery data
Hi All, I wondered if somebody could help me with how I should setup my task configuration so that it will delete my SCCM records correctly. What I want to achieve is that when a computer account gets deleted from AD then the associated resource also gets deleted in SCCM but NOT before. Currently my SCCM enviroment discovers all AD accounts but then only creates records for the systems that it can find an associated DNS record for which is working fine but what I have noticed is that if the machine account remains in AD but the DNS record expires then after a period of time then the record gets deleted from SCCM whilst the AD account still exists. I can understand what is happening with the discovery process needing to match AD with the DNS record to update the discovery date but I want the record not to be deleted until the coresponding record has been deleted from AD. These are the task settings that I believe to be relavent. Delete Aged Discovery Data - 2days, everyday Delete Inactive Client Discovery Data - 90 days, every saturday Delete Obsolete Client Discovery Data - 1 day, everyday Thanks in advance for any help Andrew

Hi Andrew, If you want the records to be deleted in SCCM same time as in AD then you need to develop a tool that can assist you with that. You might also have the computer object in other databases (antivirus etc.).Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/ | The Danish community for System Center products

Kent, from what I understand, there is no way that SCCM will delete based on AD, it bases it from the heartbeat? Do you know of anyone who has made such a tool?

Most people want the computer left in SCCM for a period of time for historical purposes. Maik Koster's MDT web service has a delete from SCCM function, you could probably call that somehow with a custom script. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |
