I have installed EMET 4 on my 64bit windows home premium computer and as soon as I open MS Office 2010 Word, EMET closes it with a problem with WinWord.exe.  Why?

I had the same problem on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with Word 2007 32bit.  It turns out that a third-party add-on, WritingOutliner, was the culprit.  I could not find the specific mitigation that was causing the crash, so, I disabled all mitigations for WinWord.exe. 

FWIW, I had similar problems when copying/pasting and then attempting to save in Wordpad.

UPDATE:  Disabling ONLY SimExecFlow solved my problem with this specific Word 2007 Add-in.
