Enable ad hoc report executions
What EXACTLY does "enable ad hoc report executions" option do? I've disabled it and enabled it and cannot tell a difference. I'm always able to open report builder, edit reports and publish and run them.
Also, on a new server I built this option is greyed out. What does that mean?
Thanks

Hi,
This option is used for ad hoc report, with ad hoc report, Report Builder users do not have to understand the source data structure in order to create meaningful reports. They can create reports by dragging and dropping data items onto a report layout. Report
Builder uses predefined Report Models to access data sources, you will want to provide your end users with already built Report Models to enable ad hoc authoring. If this option is disnabled, you cannot do this option.
You could refer to this document about how to create a report model

But I don't experience any difference in functionality when I disable the setting? When I disable it I can still launch report builder, edit and create reports in it.

Hi nd2000,
Just as my first post, this option is for ad hoc report, what you do is not relevant to ad hoc, ad hoc's datasource is retrieved from report model.
Thanks for your understanding.

Sorry, I still don't understand. Can you point me to some documentation? I've disabled the option and can't tell any difference.
