Error creating Task Sequence Media
Hi Everyone,
I have a task sequence that I wish to burn to a DVD for the purpose of imaging a stand-alone machine.
After running through the wizard it errors and refers me to the CreateTSMediaLog.log file
looking in there, there are 2 errors as follows:
Failed to stage package SC100048 (0x80070003)
Failed to create media (0x80070003)
Has anyone ever seen and fixed this error?
Thank you

Wayne,
That sounds like a fairly generic error message to me. Download the SMS toolkit and install SMS trace. It will make it way easier to read your log files. Open your CreateTSMediaLog.log and work from the end of the log up. Look for errors highlighed in Red.
I think you will find there is a more meaningful error message that will give you a hint as to whats going wrong.

The above error translates to The specified path couldn't be found.
Try to re import the boot image ?

Hi,
I 've seen this error before and fixed it :-)
Just "update distribution points" for package SC100048
Wait till the DP is updated with a new package version.
Then try again.
That should do the trick.

Hi everyone, thanks a lot for the replies!
I tried re-importing the boot media with no luck, but then I read Jeroenda's post and it "clicked" SC100048 is NOT the boot image as i was assuming, it is actually our Anti Virus package.
I updated the DPs with this package and waited for the sucessful status message to appear and have since tried again but I get the exact same error.
Whats is the next step to troubleshooting this?
Thank you

The next step I would try is remove the sc100048 package from the DP, wait till it's gone and then add it again.
Then create the standalone media again.
I think this is a problem with the hash value of the package.

Hi Jeroen,
So just to clarify as I dont want to do this wrong. I would manage distribution points for this package, remove them all and allow this to process. Then I would add them back and update DPs?
Thanks again

Well,
You only have to remove the package from the Distribution point you use when you create the task sequence media.
In the wizard;
"available distribution points, containing packages required by the Task Sequence"
will allow you to "add" a distribution point to
"selected distribution points, containing packages required by the Task Sequence"
So only for the the DP you want to select you should remove the package and add it again.

Hello again, I have removed all of my DPs from this package, re-added them and updated the DPs but i still get the same error. Im begining to wonder is there anything wrong with this package? Im going to keep looking for answers but if anyone has any ideas
please let me know.
Thank you Wayne
EDIT: I have refreshed all DPs, rebuilt and rebuilt with no luck. In the end I removed this package and it built fine. very strange as I would have liked to have gotten to the bottom of this.
Thanks again to all who helped
