Event id 21023
Hello, SCOM 2007R2 CU4 I had touble with one of my SCOM agents. So, I uninstalled it manually and deleted it in the console. I then re-installed it (push method), no problem. But the configuration file is never received and I get Event Id 21023 every five minutes : "OpsMgr has no configuration for management group MyManagementGroup and is requesting new configuration from the Configuration Service." The agent is not in the Pending Management. The agent is on the same subnet and AD domain as the RMS (no MS). I tried many things (but may be not all) : - I uninstalled/re-installed it again (after uninstallation, the computer has the status "IsDeleted" in the OpsMgr DB), - cleared Health Service folder on the agent, - restarted Health Service service on the RMS, - checked SPN, port; No firewall between the agent and RMS - I checked by installing an other agent that is on the same network -> works ok, no problem, - tried the "Reload Configuration" task (failed after more than hour) - checked the certificate (only one and is there) Do I have to wait longer then a week-end before procceding with the re-installation of the agent ? What else can I do ? Thanks, Alain

Hey Alain, "Do I have to wait longer then a week-end before procceding with the re-installation of the agent ? What else can I do ?" No you don't have to wait very long at all, sometimes you might have to bounce the server with the agent. The SCOM team released and admin kit not too long ago that had an updated mom cleanup tool. This tool when run on an agent will remove all pieces and bits of a scom agent. Have you tried that? I would run that, bounce the box, redeploy an agent. One option you have, a few actually, is to turn up loggin on that agent. There are several kb articles and blog posts on how to do that. How large is your environment? How many mps are you running? Do you have AV running on this server and if so are the SCOM directories and processes excluded from scanning?Regards, Blake Email: mengotto<at>hotmail.com Blog: http://discussitnow.wordpress.com/

Hi Blake, I will try the mom cleanup tool. I thought that with add/remove or uninstall from the console was good enough. With this Management Group, I have only one RMS with about 100 windows agents accross different forests and some linux too. Less than 200 MPs (custom ones included). "C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager 2007\Health Service State" and "C:\WINDOWS\Temp\OpsMgrTrace" are excluded from AV scanning. Thanks for your quick and appreciated answer. Alain

Hi, This morning, I ran the mom cleanup tool (no product found). I than installed the agent from the console. No problem for the installation. But, still the event 21053. Why the configuration file is not downloaded on this server ? I haven't tried to wipe out the Health Service State folder on the RMS as I can install agent on other Windows server without problem. Any other idea ? Thanks Alain

Not certain. That's odd. Maybe someone else has a better idea. I would recommend turning on logging and see what the agent is doing.Regards, Blake Email: mengotto<at>hotmail.com Blog: http://discussitnow.wordpress.com/

Alain, You mentioned that you have One Certificate present. Is that certificate name matches with your computer name in AD. Mostly we should have FQDN name mentioned on Certificate.Regards, Suresh

Hello all, Good news. Just to say that I've cleared the "Health Service State" folder on the RMS as Roger said in a previous post. Now, the agent can connect and has received its configuration file and management packs. Thanks to all. Regards, Alain
