FIM Password Client Branding?
Are there no options for this? Pretty disappointing.Joe Stepongzi - Identity Management Consultant - ILM MVP - www.microsoftIdM.com,ilmXframework.codeplex.com

Joe,
I am not sure what you mean by Password Client Branding. This is the first time I hear this expression. Can you please explain

Changing the logo/text on the Gate, Register, reset screens for the specific company the product is going to.
Looks like these screens are unmanaged code with no open configuration.

One option would be to write your own reset client (thick or thin) using the Open Source FIM Client.
Right now, the open source client knows how to get questions from the web service and answer them.
Someone has already asked me to figure out the registration piece so with proper motivation, that could be done. Probably takes a week or two.
Finally, I need to finish the piece to submit the new password back to the workflow. That probably takes a day or so.

Thats what I was thinking, just don't have enough time for my current client. Definitely would be nice for an external based client.. ;)Joe Stepongzi - Identity Management Consultant - ILM MVP - www.microsoftIdM.com,ilmXframework.codeplex.com

Agree - will add vote to connect dcr.
Lack of customisable text on the registration and auth screens is a problem for us.

P.S. talking to the STS endpoint (e.g. for SSPR) with your own client is not currently supportedThe FIM Password Reset Blog http://blogs.technet.com/aho/

i understand it will be nice to be customizable
but if it is not, what makes that a deployment blocker? If you could, please elaborate on that a bit more. Actual data would definitely help me understand

Many clients have the assumption that users will think this is some type of virus or some other mailicous software.
Being able to change text would allow the company to put there name and logo, so there users will feel more comfortable using it.
Also from what I have seen, some users will have a hard time with the word Gate, not understand what it means and probably try not to use it.
The same questions of why you would want to brand the portal will apply here also.Joe Stepongzi - Identity Management Consultant - ILM MVP - www.microsoftIdM.com,ilmXframework.codeplex.com

I realize this is 6 months later, but I have the same issue as Joe had, for the same reasons. (Thinking it's a virus, as well as not understanding what "Gate" means.. our security team didn't understand it either)
However, other than putting a logo on the screen, isn't there a way to customize the text on the screen just like a Language Pack would? I.e. tweak a language pack and install it (or modify some *.ini file directly)? Has anyone else solved this
already?

nope, there is no extensibility point around branding yet.
The only configurable point i can think of is at the bottom of the QA Gate, you will find a disclaimer text. It's possible to append a hyperlink of your choice after that. The FIM Password Reset Blog http://blogs.technet.com/aho/

Hi,
How I edit the below Password reset portal (home page) message
"Examples of valid user names include domain\accountname user@company.com".
because many of my client's users do not know the domain name. so need to put a proper instructions.
And, where to update for disclaimer text/link?
I would like to customize these msgs per customer needs.
Thanks for the help.

>>Examples of valid user names include domain\accountname user@company.com
it can't be changed
>>PrivacyLink
notice you can't change the disclaimer text. all you can do is to add a privacy link after it
you would need the patch at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2272389 and push out a registry keyThe FIM Password Reset Blog http://blogs.technet.com/aho/

Thanks Anthony and Thomas.. Can we expect the Password Client interface [not portal] customizations [adding text, logos] in the future releases?

I understand that's a common ask. It would be nice if you can contact PSS and provide us with your scenario, usage, what and why do you want to customize, etc. It would be very useful data for us to plan for our next releaseThe FIM Password Reset Blog http://blogs.technet.com/aho/
