Sumanta, There is a service named OpsMgr SDK Service that should be running on your SCE2007 server. Please make sure that this service exists and that it is started. HTH, Tim

Hi Sumanta, You do not need to install Operations Manager 2007. Instead, you need to verify that the Windows service named 'OpsMgr SDK Service' is started and running on the server you installed System Center Essentials. Dustin

Hi Dustin, 'OpsMgr SDK Service' is not listed in my Services. So i thought i had to install it. Suggest me the alternative please. Regards Sumanta

Hi Sumanta, The OpsMgr SDK Service should be exist after successfully installing SCE. So I suspect there are something wrong during the SCE installation process. Did you receive any error message during installation? You can also check the %temp%secsetup[num].log for more details and post it here. If possible, please reinstall SCE to see if it works (if possible, please use a cleanly-installed server since SCE is a business critical server). I have been running this for over 4 months and now I get the same error. The sdk service is either not running or not yet initialized Please do not tell me I have to do a re-install? The account is running a local service and it says "started". Below is the actual error. Thanks for any help. Note: The following information was gathered when the operation was attempted. The information may appear cryptic but provides context for the error. The application will continue to run. Hi, As the new report issue you mentioned is different from the one discussed in this current thread (which is a SDK service not listed in services.msc), we'd recommend that you start up a new thread for it. We generally focus on one topic in one thread because in this way it will be better for other community members to participate in the discussion, and to search/find specific answers more efficiently in the future.-----------------------------Sincerely,Guozhen WangMicrosoft Online Community Support

Hi,You need to check whether "OPSMgr Sdk Service" is present and running. After running this service if you still get same error the go to "C:\Program Files\system Center Operations Manager 2007\Tools\" click on StartTrace.bat and after getting it started click onStopTrace.bat. Retry to open SCOM console. Now this should open without error.ThanksShalini

HiI had a similar problem, after installing Operations Manager 2007.The install ran fine but after a period of time I got ''The SDK service is either not running or not yet initialized." message you mentionCheck that the service "System Centre Data Access" (or Service Name OMSDK) is running. In my case the service had stopped running as it was configured to run as an account that was not set to 'log on as a service'. If you're running the service as an AD account try re-entering the password for the account, Windows will then tell you that it is enabling the account to log on as a service. [If you use group policy you'll probably need to set this in the Computer Configuration for that server]Hope this helps, Rob
