Did you re check your source files? I think, something wrong with source files? Did you get any warning in prerequisite check?Anoop C Nair - This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. |Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually

Error 5, is normally Access denied. Did you start the installation as administrator? Open a command prompt as administrator and run setup from there.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Hi - Did you try to install SCCM on another HyperV server just for testing? I am having the same problem and I am running it on ESX. This is the second VM I have created to try this. I have also tried to replace the file with one from the internet.

Hello all,
I hope you're all well !
Well, from my side I did find a solution for that issue...the problem reside on the ISO image dowloaded from licensing.microsoft.com.
We download two (2) different images:
SCCM 2007 R2 RTM and SCCM 2007 R3 RTM, both of them were corrupt.
So we decide to download one from Technet site, and we can finish our installation without hiccups.
I hope that my issue can help others...
Thanks and best regards to all of youStephane

What about for us that don't have it on Technet as an option to download? :) I have tried SCCM SP1 and SCCM SP2 and all of them fail with the same error.

I encountered this problem too, but then after overcoming it by substituting the vcredist_x86.exe download for VC 2005 from Microsofts site the install gets hung up during SQL table build scripts and it doesn't matter which download of SCCM I use.
The error is different, but it always gets hung up with SQL.
Its starting to really tick me off. Brand new installs of SQL, zero problems. 2005 or 2008 doesn't matter, same errors.
I can't possibly be alone in this. Pasting the errors is totally pointless because they imply that the SQL scripts being run by SCCM's install are broken (considering it tells you what the command was that failed and you can tell its not a valid
command...), ...

... but it doesn't hurt anyway. At least we would know the errorcode then. Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

True. I was on the high end of ticked off when I wrote that.
Unfortunately I've already blown away that vm and am starting over becaus eof how many time sI uninstalled sql and sccm, don't trust it anymore.
The one error that I got when trying to install from the 2007 R3 w/SP2 ISO was along the lines of saying that a value could not be null. The command that was trying to be run was something along the lines of a DROP command.

Im having the same Issue. I downloaded VCREDINST_X86.exe from The MS site and Patched my ISO with it. Setup runs fine until I get a Fatal error "configuration manager setup cannot continue because of the following error: Setup cannot create the required
database tables, Contact your SQL administrator"
I have checked and re-checked to make sure my account has Admin rights on the SQL server and the AD server and the Site server. When I check the SQL server the SMS database has been created and it appears the tables are there but when I look at my setupmanager
log I see the following.

Ive been working on this for a week now and am getting Extremely frustrated. It seems like there is a script problem. Ive tried to use every available Distro on the Microsoft licensing site all end up with the same result.

Hey there we go, thats the error. See, I knew I couldn't be alone. I too downloaded the ISO's from the Vol Licensing Service Center.
This is the error I was getting when using SQL 2008 R2. I'm currently rebuilding and using just base SQL 2008 x64 w/SP2 and SCCM 2007 R3 SP2 so we'll see what fun error is generated with that.
Not that the OS should matter, but it was 2008 R2, this time around its just 2008 x64.
We're in the middle of our contract negotiations with MS and apparently our Software Assurance for tech support is broken until they get the P.O. as I've already tried to open a case with MS.

I have the same Setup. Im running SQL 2008 R2. Trying to get SCCM 2007 R3 SP2 running. I work for a school system and we are migrating From Novell over to Windows. I need to get SCCM up and running so we can do bare metal workstation deployment. I have
to get all the machines in the county up and running by next school year. So Im a little stressed at the moment. Let me know how it goes with vanilla SQL, if it works for you I might have to blow out my SQL VM and start over.

Wish I had good news. No change. The same null drop error message.

Hello Fred and jbudd0649,
Have you tried with a different image of SCCM 2007 !!!
I had the same issue and it was related to the .ISO, maybe you can find a media of SCCM 2007.
I also had problems with SQL reporting with the R3 release of SCCM 2007, I just remove that R3 and my issue with SQL reporting is gone, I will install it when my SCCM R2 is up and runnings with no hiccups.
Keep the faith gentlemen SCCM is a very nice management product...
Best regardsStephane

I dont have a hard copy of SCCM. I tried every available ISO on the Microsoft Website. If the issue is the ISO then MS needs to get it fixed.

I was hoping to go with the newest version but I suppose an upgrade could be done..
I do actually have a copy of SCCM 2007 R2 w/SP1 from when we were still getting volume licensing products in the mail. I'll give'er a shot after it gets copied up to the server.

Hello Fred,
Yes an upgrade could be done, do the installation with administrator credential setup.exe on bin\i386
Download SCCM SP2 with all the requirements (manifest.cab)
And I hope you'll be fine

Okay so my "hard copy" of SCCM 2007 w/SP2 installed like a champ, no problems. I then updated it to R2 with the R2 update download.
This install of SCCM is intended, right now, solely for MS Forefront Endpoint Protection. I ended up encountering a similar issue with that installer and redownloading the ISO (and launching installer from the command prompt as administrator)
that overcame the FEP install problem.
So I'm where I want to be at this time. Stinks how long it took to get here because I was trusting the download sources from Microsoft.....
