Hi,

A user reported that several files and folders within one of his SharePoint folders have gone missing.

I went to check the permissions on these thinking that was the most likely cause but found that the files and folders had indeed disappeared.

I told him I'd have to look into it but before I could get started he called me back to tell me that one of the folders and it's entire contents has reappeared but the rest of the files and folders are still missing.

Has anybody seen this before or can somebody suggest where I could begin investigating this?

Did you happen to check out the recycle bin? You'll need to be a site collection admin to view everyone's recycle bin.
