Getting started

Hi,

I have recently successfully installed Microsoft Sharepoint 2013 on top of Microsoft Sever 2012 and Windows 8.1 Preview.

I am trying to get a feel for its features, but I am struggling to get started.

I have tried clicking SharePoint 2013 Central Administration

But I get  a Message Box: Windows Security: iexplore Connecting to WIN-GOGFIMSRCJL, which asks for a username and password. I have tried my administrator username and password but nothing works.

Is this the only way to get started?

Hi,

Have you installed SP 2013 on client OS?

If yes, SP 2013 does not support installing on Client OS such Windows 7 64-bit or Vista.  It supports only Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 server.

H, yes I have installed Sharepoint 2013 on Windows Server 2012. I think my problem is that I do not have the domain name username and password for accessing Sharepoint's Central Administration. The domain name is : WIN-GOGFIMSRCJL But if. Don't have this, how do I actually use Sharepoint other than going through their 'Central Administration option'? Thank you, Kimberley

yes  you can install and assess Sites by FBA Users because sharepoint 2013 by default have claim based auth is active.  but check you network Policy they should allow you. or create you own virtual network if your not using domain controller basic windows Auth.

Hi,

To run the SharePoint 2013 configuration wizard, you must need a domain account to configure the farm.

Have you used powershell commands to configure using local account?
