We are using a product from NSI called AutoStore. The way we have it configured, it monitors an e-mail address, and as new e-mail arrives, the message body, as well as all attachments, are converted to PDF, renamed, and uploaded to a SharePoint document library. The end goal is to provide external users a way to access uploaded documents through the SharePoint web interface, but restrict them from seeing anything in the document library other than their own documents. Is this possible? Right now they can see their own documents, and other users' folders, but cannot see other users' documents within those folders. -Derek

The approach I normally take is to simple enable content approval on the document library and choosing the "Only users who can approve items (and the author of the item)" option for who can see draft items in the library. Since you appear to be using folders for each user's documents, the quick easy way after enabling content approval is to go in and place each folder into a "Pending" state, which will in effect remove it from view for any other user. With this configuration, even if you approve the actual documents in the individual folders, no one else besides you and the user matched up to the folder will be able to view it's contents since there wont be any (visible) navigation to the other subfolders. Of course, if any of the other users knew the names of the other folders they could access it by modifying the URL, so they more appropriate method would be to also make sure that any of the documents on the folders were also always in a "Pending" state so if anyone were to figure out the URL, they still couldn't view any of the documents. The only problem I see is in how the documents are uploaded and under what context. For the content approval option to work, the documents must be uploaded under the context of the user associated with each folder. I'm not familiar with the program you're using to accomplish the uploading, but in order for the above to work, you'd have to have the program do the upload process running under the context of each user (not sure if the configuration for your program will allow for this).
