Health Service restarting on client machines
Hi. I have a SCE2007 SP1 on a Windows 2003 R2 SP2. SCE is monitoring 30 servers and 15 clients at the moment. I have some problem with the Health Service e-mail alerts i get. I have made a e-mail subscription that monitors the Health Service and delivers an email to me if a server goes offline. The email subscription is working fine. The problem is that I get emails telling me that a server is offline even tough it is not true. At first i thought it was SCE or my subscription that was the problem. But now I can se that it seems to be the Health Service on the client that is restarting. There are no warnings in the Event Log. It just displays the following message: EventID: 100 Source: Health Service ESE Store Type: Information Desc: HealthService (1508) The database engine 5.02.3790.3959 started. After that I get a lot of entries in the Event Log concerning the startup of the Health Service. During 24 hours I get around 60-80 emails regarding "Health Service Heartbeat Failure" and non of them are correct. There are no pattern in witch servers are generating this alert. It can be any of the 30 servers I have registered in SCE. Anyone have an idea what I can do to correct this problem? Is there another and better way to monitor if a server is offline? Maybe just monitor ping instead of the Health Service? If your need clarification please don't hesitate to ask. Best regards Thomas Thyregod

Hi Thomas, On your SCE server, stop Opsmgr health service and Opsmgr Config service, then clear all the files located under this directory: c:\program files\system center essentials 2007\health service state\healthservice store. start Opsmgr health service and Opsmgr Config service, check whether you will receive the error again.
