Health service not available on SCE server
I'm having trouble with discovery from my SCE2010 serverver. The initial discovery went well and everything seemed to be running OK for the first few weeks but as I've been trying the features out I seem to be running into trouble with the health service on the server. When I attempt to do a discovery of new machines on the network I get an error message that reads "Health Service 'SCE.police.ctb' in which the location monitoring object is contained is not available. Make sure that the computer hosting the Health Service is available and verify that the Health Service is running." I've stopped and re-started the service named "System Center Management" since it appears to be the health monitor but that hasn't made any difference. It still appears to be monitoring the 180 odd machines it discovered without any major errors. Anyone have any ideas? I've just bought into this system and I'm currently frustrated since it won't allow me to do much. It's running on a 2008R2 virtual sever with the database located on a seperate 2008 virtual box.

I had this issue and the problem was related to the local SQL Express installation where the database "SystemCenterEssentials" had no more availble space. The database was found not to allow the database to grow, and when it was enabled via "SQL Server Management Studio" > "[Hostname]\Essentials" > "SystemCenterEssentials", I also had to remove the restricted growth option for the database and log files that are now allowed to grow, rebooted the system. Please note, if using Express versions of SQL 2008 it has a maximum database size of 4GB.- StatoLNL
