The original stack trace is pretty clear that it's an HTTP 404 (Not Found) -- i.e., the MA has tried to download the photo data from a location where no data are available -- you could check the IIS logs for detail on the request URI.

We realized something was wrong with our sync service last week when profile pictures were not syncing back to AD. I've tried stopping and restarting the sync service in SharePoint and I'm not sure what else I should try. The service was trying to point to a Read Only Domain Controller which has been corrected (I pointed the connection directly to the domain controller we can write to), yet five users are still showing under the Discovery Errors in FIM. I'm seeing this error come up while running any profile sync in Sharepoint 2010: MOSS_FULLIMPORT: stopped-extension-dll-exception When I check the Event Log I see the following: The extensible extension returned an unsupported error. The stack trace is: "System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadDataInternal(Uri address, WebRequest& request) at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadData(Uri address) at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.ManagementAgent.ProfileImportExportExtension.DownloadPictures(ProfileChangeData[] profiles) at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.ManagementAgent.ProfileImportExportExtension.Microsoft.MetadirectoryServices.IMAExtensibleFileImport.GenerateImportFile(String fileName, String connectTo, String user, String password, ConfigParameterCollection configParameters, Boolean fFullImport, TypeDescriptionCollection types, String& customData) Forefront Identity Manager 4.0.2450.34" Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
