How does SCCM use DCOM?
I have a client that wants to use SCCM but they tell me that they don't permit DCOM on their network. I know that SCCMs Admin UI uses DCOM for communication with the provider, but I wasn't sure how to respond to the client's concerns because I don't know enough about the interaction between DCOM and the provider. I've been looking for links that specifically address DCOM and how it is used by SCCM but so far I'm coming up empty. Does anybody have any links or insight to offer on this? Thanks! Janet

They may not be able to run the console remotely but I'm not sure. I'd push back on them and ask specifically what they block. DCOM set locally on the SCCM server to allow the console to connect to the provider. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633148.aspx If they mean they won't allow WMI connections across the network client push won't work either.
