How to clear WSS_UsageApplication content?

Hi there,

I have a large WSS_UsageApplication database which is about 20gb.

We don't use this data so we have already stopped the  'usage data collection' application to stop the db growing.

Off course that seems to work, but for now we still have the collected data which isn't used anymore. What is the best way to get rid of this data?

Lennard

Hi,

You can enable the 'usage data collection' application again and set the number of days of audit log data to retain from each site collection > top site > site settings > site collection administration > site collection audit settings > audit log trimming section. and wait to timer job running next time.

You can also check this:

While it seems logic to be the solution i tried it and for now it doesn't shrink the database.

in the 2 most used web applications (wiith a single site collection) enabled the audit log trimming.

in central administration enabled usage data collection.

then started the timer jobs 'Change Log' and 'Audit log trimming' for these web apps.

The RequestUsage view returns still about 16M rows.

the ULSTraceLog view returns about 700K rows.

it seems that content stil exists after running the jobs.

Hi,

i tried the same steps and the DB remained huge. Is there another way to reduce the size of the Usage DB?

Kind regards
