In the 2007 SharePoint products, the user needs to delete his/her own alerts.
(At least I hope that my memory isn't playing tricks with me because I could see a "delete selected alerts" option on that page + the ability to select a User. (?) when I went to check this just now. ) I couldn't check any further because I
don't have any user alerts on that server.
This was using IE8 and the "Delete Selected Alerts" is directly under the line where you select a user to display alerts for.
2010 Books: SPF 2010; SPS 2010; SPD 2010; InfoPath 2010; Workflow etc.
2007 Books:
WSS 3.0; MOSS 2007; SPD 2007; InfoPath 2007; PerformancePoint; SSRS; Workflow
Both lists also include books in French; German; Spanish with even more languages in the 2007 list.

Every Alert you receive comes with a link to Manage your alerts i.e. Modify my alert settings. Click that and you should see the list of your laerts. Tick the ones you want deleting and cclick delete alerts on the list toolbar.

Hi Evan Catherine,
There are several methods which we can use to delete users alert. First, you can refer to the following steps:
1.On the portal site home page, click Site Actions, point to Site Settings, and then click Modify All Site Settings.
2.On the Site Settings page, in the Site Administration section, click User Alerts.
3.On the Display alerts for menu, select the name of the user whose alerts you want to view, and then click Update.
To delete an alert, select the check box next to the alert, and then click Delete Selected Alerts.
Next, when you login into your SharePoint site, click the down-arrow near “welcome username”, then select my settings, click my alerts, select the alert
that you want to delete, then click Delete Selected Alerts.
For more information about the user alerts, please refer to the following article:

As you said "To delete an alert, select the check box next to the alert, and then click Delete Selected Alerts", but I am not able to see "Delete Selected Alerts"
option. This is my problem.

Hi Evan,
Please check whether you have enough permission?
Do you want to delete yourself alert or someone else's?
Try to use site collection administrator, what is the result.
Did you try the second methods?
