How to remove a bad update from WSUS

Hello all, Im a newbie to SCCM and WSUS. We have SCCM 2012 R2 and WSUS 6.1 running on a windows 2012 server. Under monitoring in SCCM I'm getting a critical error, which states, " WSUS Synchronization failed.
Message: Failed to sync some of the updates.
 Source: Microsoft.SystemsManagementServer.SoftwareUpdatesManagement.WsusSyncAction.WSyncAction.SyncUpdates."
I traced the problem to WSUS. Its not liking 2 updates that it encounters during synchronization. One of the updates is Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool

In our WSYNCMGR.log I'm getting this error:

Sync failures summary: SMS_WSUS_SYNC_MANAGER 1/5/2015 2:47:21 PM 7144 (0x1BE8)

Can someone please tell me or show me how to remove the update from WSUS or help me to resolve the issue or get rid of the errors.

Thank you in advance

Hi,

Do you have a proxy server? If that is the case, there is a similar thread that resolved this by set the proxy account details in IE.

Hi Joyce, no we aren't using a proxy server. All updates are retrieved from MS update site

Looks like it's failing to auto-accept licensing agreements.

While I don't have a silver bullet, couple things to consider:

1.  Downloading/accepting EULAs requires port 80/8530, even if you enabled SSL and download everything else on 443/8531.  Make sure unencrypted traffic is open or this "stuff" will happen.

2.  Check the logs for erroneous paths from old installs.  There's another thread here that's similar: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/dd6bb3f4-a433-466b-bf20-3b675199b8bd/microsoft-software-license-terms-unable-to-acceptreview-after-moving-sup-role?forum=configmgrsum

Hi,

You could try the steps below.

1. Unselect all Classisfications in SUP

2. Run a sync

3. Run wsusutil reset

4. Ran another sync

5. re-add Classifications

Joyce,

Thank you for this! Worked like a charm to correct this issue.
