How to upgrade Management Pack in SCOM 2012?
Hello All, In the last week I installed VMM 2012 and I made the integration between VMM 2012 and SCOM 2012 and everything was fine. After some days, when I opened the VMM 2012 and checked the integration with OM 2012 I found error says: VMM Management group object cannot be found. One or more of the Virtual Machine Manager objects monitored by Operations Manager could not be discovered. This might be caused by a missing or outdated version of the System Center Virtual Machine Manager management pack in Operations Manager. Now after googling and searching I found that I have to upgrade the VMM 2012 MP to newer version according to the last post in the following article and in different places: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/virtualmachinemgrproscintegration/thread/733a962f-f73f-49d8-ac5e-dded71a10947 Now my question is: I want to upgrade the VMM 2012 MP to newer version, what are the things that I should do? thanks Regards,

This might not fix this particular issue - the error message is generic to many problems and is misleading. First thing to check - have you applied VMM Roll up 1: http://blogs.technet.com/b/scvmm/archive/2012/05/09/update-to-update-rollup-1-for-system-center-2012.aspx Next, you can check the version of the VMM Management Pack you have in SCOM (administration, management packs) against the version specified in the error. If they are different then at least you know that you just need to update the management packs. If the version of the MPs you have installed is the same as in the error then the usual problem is incorrect network configuration on a virtual machine which seems to kill the integration. @Graham: thanks man for your helpful post, but I have some questions: 1.How can I decide the version of the MP in the error? I need this to decide the cause of my problem! in other words the version will be included in the error or I have to check from the OM console? 2.Regardin the VMM Roll Up1 in the link you added above, it should only be installed on VMM 2012 or should also e installed on any SC 2012 server? as I have now VMM 2012/OM 2012/DPM 2012. thanks Regards,

Hi 1) In VMM, go to settings, System Center Settings - double click and in the window that comes up, go to Management Packs and that will list the Management Packs and versions. Then in SCOM, go to Administration, Management Packs and check each of the above management packs exist and that the versio is the same. 2) Correct - but there are updates to the Management Packs that then need to be manually imported into SCOM: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2686249 Cheers GrahamRegards Graham New System Center 2012 Blog! - http://www.systemcentersolutions.co.uk View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

2) Correct - but there are updates to the Management Packs that then need to be manually imported into SCOM: Hello again Graham, Sorry I did not understand this: you said it is "correct"! you mean that the Rollup1 must be used for all SC 2012 with App Controller or only for VMM 2012? Now regarding updating the MP manually, what I should do is only import the new version of MP? no need for deleting or taking other actions? thanks Graham for clarification, I appreciate your help. Regards,

I did the update, but when I tried to reconnect and re-establish the integration it gives me this erro: VMM Management group object cannot be found. Operations Manager discovery failed with error: "Exception of type 'Microsoft.VirtualManager.EnterpriseManagement.Common.DiscoveryDataInvalidRelationshipSourceExceptionOM10' was thrown.". How can I solve this issue? Regards,

Thanks all, the problem was solved :) I have re-checked the Registry after the update and the key was not updated automatically, so I updated it manually and then I restarted the service. Now every thing is fine but I still have a question, one of the components of the new VMM MP was not updated..I have added snapshot!!
