I've probably mentionned this issue once some time ago, and upon further investigation, I've found more information, but no solution...

The issue we're having is a package for the Microsoft Scan Tool that gets updated once per month after the retrieval of the wsusscn2.cab file from Microsoft.

The package itself gets updated fine, the distribution works on most DPs except a few, and they fail to update automatically every month.

The DPs receive their PCK correctly, but during the phase where it is trying to remove the old wsusscn2.cab in order to extract the new package, it always fails.

After taking some closer look, it seems like that file is being locked by a process. The culprit being w3wp.exe (owner is network service).

Has anyone ever encountered such an issue and might have a few troubleshooting steps to propose?

Our environment is:
Windows Server 2003 R2 running SMS 2003 SP3

Im cleaning up old posts, did you figure this out yet? IF so what was the solution?

Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with CSS as they can work with you to solve this problem.
