ITMU Scanning for Windows 2008 R2 Servers
We are running SMS 2003 SP3 with hotfix support for Windows Server2008 & Windows 7. When we are running ITMU scanning its getting completed successfully however reports are not listing Microsoft updates applicable for Windows Server 2008. Any Suggestion what could be possible cause for this issue.

Just because the client is technically supported doesn't mean all features and functions are fully supported; it just means that basic functionality is supported. Thus there is no contradiction. Also note that SMS 2003 is in extended support (http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifean29); you are trying to support a new OS with a product almost 10 years old. Hi Jason, I agree with you that we are using old technology for Patching Windows 2008 R2 Platform however we just want to get Patching compliance for our complete enviornment and we are already planning to move to SCCM. However we could see successful results for Windows server 2008 R2 ITMU Scanning. Now Win 2008 R2 servers have started showing patches applicable, it took sometime to get this information updated on Database. Also we have found out one article (Update for the Systems Management Server 2003 R2 and Systems Management Server 2003 Service Pack 3 to Support Update Packages for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 ) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=fb5d901a-7cf0-466c-b9c1-25999860f4d2
