Inconsistent reporting content
Hi there,I have had some very strange issues recently when I have been comparing the content of certain reports. In my specific scenario, I am working with one central primary site, with most of the roles (FSP, MP, DP, RP etc.) Under this site, I have a further 15 or so secondary sites with PMP, DP roles. If I look at the content of my collections, I see installed and assigned clients corresponding to all sites. However, if I look at the report which shows the client count installed and assigned to each site, only the primary site shows more than 0 installed clients. Now, in the report which shows the number of specific incidents and the number of clients which reported (BY SITE) the problem (sorry I can't be more specific with the name of the report) I have one report from a client from showing as 2010 and most of the rest showing a time 3 or 4 hours into the future. I am assuming something is wrong with my reporting point, but how can I correct this problem? If I display the corresponding report as before, but with a specific collection (in this case it was All Systems) the total number of problems is LESS than the total problem count for only one of the 15 or 16 sites. How can that be?This for me is a pretty severe problem, as I rely on the reports to troubleshoot client installation failures, especially in secondary sites. As a side, would it be of great value to me to add the fallback status point roles to my secondary site servers? Thanks very much in advance!!!

Hi,Clients will always be assigned to a primary site never to a secondary. So once the client is installed and assigned the count will be on the primary site. You can create a custom report with a count on clients in each site.Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products

Hi Kent,Really appreciate the reply.I guess my specific doubt is regarding the information in reports / queries / collections and why there are discrepancies. For example:Collection All Systems shows a client as not being installed.Query: All Client Systems contains the client and shows it as installed.Report: Issues by Incidence for a Specific Site shows that the client in question has x problem. Why is the information not consistent? At what time does the installed flag in a collection get updated, for example, and when a report is created, how can I determine at what time the information was correct? It is just incredibly difficult to know from where I can get the most accurate information, because if I base myself on a report of client installation failures, I frequently start to troubleshoot the installation and then find the client had been installed and is visible in the console after all. Thanks again!

After having checked pretty much everything the client had implemented, I made various changes to heartbeat and AD discovery, and enabled some of the maintenance tasks. In amongst all of that, thing seem to be improving - I'll keep an eye on it.
