Install Microsoft Hotfix during TS
Hi folks,
Wondering if somebody can help me out. I need to deploy Microsoft KB953760v2 out to all my Windows XP clients and as such have a requirement to add a step into my TS so that it is installed on all newly imaged PC's without a rectrospective task running once
the PC is on a users desk.
I have downloaded the hotfix and created a package that contains the required .exe file. I have then created a program that uses the /quiet switch and is set to 'configmgr rests computer' on completion. I have then assigned this to a query based group
to install the hotfix on all PC's that do not already have it installed, I have had to use the 'only when no user is logged on' option as the hotfix requires a reboot so in our enviroment this is best for us.
This works fine but when I then try and add this program into my test TS (before moving it into my live) it attempts to run the program and downloads the package onto the local disk and then runs the .exe and I can see in taskmgr that there is a running
process for the hotfix. However things never progress past this point and when I look in the smsts.log I can see that I am getting 'waiting for job status notification...'
I have tried creating a seperate program for my TS's and tried different combinations of using the /forcerestart switch and the 'configmgr/program restarts computer' but have had no sucess so far.
Is anybody able to offer any advice as to what I might be able to do to resolve this?

is your task sequence only installing the hotfix or os plus apps plus hotfix ?

I suggest you upgrade WUA in the TS.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
