Inventory from SCOM or SCCM?
Hello,
I have to update an external SQL Asset Database with information coming from the Inventory. I am using SCCM but as Linux machines are not under SCCM is it possible to collect the Inventory from SCOM.
In this case I fI use SCOM for Linux machine why still using SCCM for Windows? detailed?

Hi Dom,
SCOM will not do software inventory. To do inventory for Linux machines in SCCM, I suggest contacting SCCM forum support directly:

You can also check if the following tool will work:

You can probably create collecting rules for all of this and create a report for this as well and/or extract the data and move it to your asset db. But SCOM is not an inventory tool so the most things will be easy to collect (name, domain etc) but a
list of installed apps will be more difficult as you typically use 1 "discovery" while a inventory tool looks for installed apps at several locations.Rob Korving
