We currently have an application that is using MBSA. According to the August Security Bulletin Q&A the current version of MBSA does not support Windows 8 and no plans to create a version exist. Is this correct - will there be no version of MBSA that is capable of scanning a Windows Server 2012, will there be another tool that give the same functionality on the new Server OS ?
I have the same question for Server 2012.
Edit: I raised this with MS via Premier Support. There is nothing in the pipeline for Server 2012 at the moment :(
I assume the same applies to Windows 8
Has there ever been any further updates on this? Our security department cannot believe that there are no plans to update MBSA to include 2012.
Thanks
I have just looked at the MBSA website:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/security/cc184924.aspx
which clearly states:
MBSA 2.2 builds on the previous version, MBSA 2.1, which is supported on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 and corrects minor issues reported by customers. MBSA 2.2 is supported on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2, but is not supported on Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.
Unfortunately in the table below it states that MBSA IS supported on 2012.
C'mon Microsoft. At least get consistent information on the same page!!!
Finally something is moving in the right direction ...

"Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) 2.3 Public Preview Coming
Microsoft will make a preview of the next release of MBSA available to customers in Summer 2013. This release adds support for Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2. Windows 2000 will no longer be supported with this release. The final release of MBSA 2.3 will be available in Fall 2013."
So we have just to patiently ... WAIT ;-)
Ciao,
