MOM 2005 Support
Hi
It would be great, when I get some official statements from Microsoft:
1. Is Windows Server 2008 R2 officially supported by the MOM 2005 Base Operating System - Management Pack? Can I monitor such a server without any restriction?
2. Covers the MOM 2005 AD-Management Pack Domain Controllers running on Windows Server 2008 R2? (
http://pinpoint.microsoft.com/en-US/applications/Windows-Server-2008-Active-Directory-AD-Management-Pack-for-MOM-2005-12884901990) Without any restrictions?
3. Will Microsoft develop new Management Pack in the near Future for MOM 2005 or not?
Thank you

Hi Marc.
1. & 2. Windows Server 2008 R2 is not supported for any MOM 2005 role.
3. The mainstream support for MOM 2005 ended 1/12/2010 so I dont think Microsoft will continue relase MPs for it.mats.w | www.opsmode.com

Hi Marc
Supported configurations are listed here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc180609.aspx
A thread with MSFT responses along the same lines:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/operationsmanagermgmtpacks/thread/d244ab6b-377b-405f-a086-39ca4a25bc0d
The best thing to do to get an official statement is to ask your Microsoft Account Manager.
Cheers
Graham

Officially,
1. No, we do not support MOM 2005 on Server 2008 R2 for infra and agents.
2. not sure what the question is here.
3. no, MOM 2005 is end of life (extended support only). Microsoft will not release any new management packs for this product.
Please see the following for more info.

FYI...I own the support statement for the Operations Manager product. It does not get more "official" then this. :)
