MP - IIS issue - Interesting one
In our infrastructure we have a peculiar problem with MP or IIS. For MP errors as an initial troubleshooting step we used to run the MPlist, MPCert and MPpolicy all three are giving required results. However, the clients are not able to download the policies. MPcontrol.log is showing 200. IIS logs shows error 500 for all other requests EXCEPT the test we ran from IE (MPLIST,MPCERT, MPPOlicy) those are showing 200 ok. it is really confusing. I never seen this before. Did anybody else have same experience? Is there something to with do with proxy server like as IE uses “WinINet to process the requests however the clients use WinHTTP . Anoop C Nair

Thank you. The link is very useful. However, the issue got resolved for that server. As I said it is very irritating becuase every now and then I start getting these kind of issues. I suspect Virtual server OS image which we are using over here. In the event log of most of the servers I can see DECOM errors 10009 & 10016. May be this is root cause . Any comments? Anoop C Nair

Another troubleshooting step is.. check the GUId that you see in the event log and search for that GUID in the registry and see what application ID it is point to and search for the application ID in the dcomcnfg and check if you have right remote and local actication permissions over that. Hope that helps.

Hi All - Find the below link it is applicable for Windows 2008 R2 servers. All the SCCM secondary servers having issues in our environment are running on Win2K8 R2. http://t3chn1ck.wordpress.com/2010/11/12/sccm-2007-client-crashes-on-win2k8-r2/ SCCM 2007 client crashes on Win2k8 R2 November 12, 2010 in SCCM, Troubleshooting | Tags: SCCM Client If a Win2k8 R2 server should experience an alert from SCOM that the SMS Agent Host (e.g. the client) service is running, then the resolution is to simply restart the server. It is possible to prevent this on new server builds – Microsoft claims that restarting the server after installation of the SCCM client will keep the issue from occurring. This alert is generated because the client crashes and then does a self-reinstall to recover from the error. You can confirm the client is crashing by checking for application event ID 1000 and 1001 for ccmexec.exe or system log event 7031. Microsoft has confirmed this is a recently discovered issue with SCCM 2007 clients on R2 servers and that the information is currently only published internally. The root cause is that Microsoft has found a problem in the code, but it is only fixed in SCCM 2011 and won’t be for SCCM 2007. Anoop C Nair
